What the golden Hello Kitty is

Burger King's Hello Kitty & Friends King Jr. Meal comes with one of six Sanrio toys in a sealed blind box: Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi and the golden Hello Kitty. Most launch coverage counts the golden figure as the sixth toy. Like the others, it wears a Burger King crown.

You can't tell which toy is inside until you open the box, and there is no known way to pick out the golden one at the counter.

What happens if you get the golden one

Burger King's first press release, on October 19, said a lucky few who found the golden Hello Kitty could unlock a complete set of all six toys. On October 20, Burger King issued a correction and removed that sentence. The release now only says the golden toy completes your set.

So the golden Hello Kitty is simply the rarest of the six toys. There is no official prize of the other five. Many news stories still repeat the old line, which is why fans keep asking.

If you pull the golden toy:

  1. Keep it in good shape. Collectors value an unopened or clean figure and the box.
  2. Don't expect free toys. A restaurant may be kind, but Burger King no longer promises the full set.
  3. Check resale prices before selling. See below.

Burger King Hello Kitty box codes for the golden toy

Fans say a short code printed on each blind box tells you which toy is inside, including the golden one. In Brazil, fan lists say codes ending in F are the golden Hello Kitty, while US fans posted different codes. These codes are not official, they change by country and batch, and stores do not have to let you pick a box. Treat any code list as a rumor until you see the toy.

How rare is the golden Hello Kitty?

The fine print on Burger King's own promo image answers it: approximately five percent of the toys are golden-colored Hello Kitty figures. On average that is about 1 in 20 meals. A fan site reported the same 5% figure from leaks back in September, and Burger King's art now backs it up.

Two more lines in that fine print matter:

  • Toy selection varies, so some restaurants may get more or fewer golden toys.
  • All toy premiums have the same value, which is Burger King's way of saying the golden one is not a prize with extra cash value.

Odds are an average, not a promise. You could open 20 boxes and get none, or get one on your first try.

What makes it harder to get over time:

  • Limited stock: the meal runs while supplies last.
  • A short window: leaked franchise material listed November 30, 2026 as the end date. Burger King has not confirmed it.
  • Toy or treat: Burger King's art says the King Jr. Meal comes with a choice of toy or treat, so ask for the toy when you order.

The Golden Claw Machine (October 23)

Separate from the golden toy in meals, Burger King is running a one-day claw machine with an even rarer prize.

  • When: Friday, October 23, 2026, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, or until prizes run out
  • Where: Burger King, 10014 Paramount Blvd., Downey, CA 90240
  • How: buying a King Jr. Meal gets you a try, and the official rules posted in the store include a free way to enter
  • Prizes: Hello Kitty toys, and one person can win a one-of-one 14K gold-plated Hello Kitty figurine
  • Rules: 18 or older, one entry per person, open to legal residents of 49 states and DC (not Rhode Island)

Golden Hello Kitty resale prices

Resale listings started before the meal even launched. On October 21, 2026 we found an eBay listing asking $99 for a preorder set of the five regular toys, with the golden one not included. We did not find a confirmed sale of a golden Hello Kitty yet.

Be careful with "preorder" listings and photos taken from Burger King's promo images. Ask sellers for a photo of the actual toy before you pay.

Tips for hunting the golden Hello Kitty

  • Go early in the promo. Stores run out at different times.
