Why the Outback franchisee filed for bankruptcy
Cerca Trova Restaurant Group Holdings, which does business as Out West Restaurant Group, filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Monday, November 2, 2026. It runs 61 Outback restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico and employs about 3,669 people.
The company pointed to falling traffic and higher labor, food and other costs. It has tried to sell itself four times since 2018.
Is Bloomin' Brands buying the other Outbacks?
On November 1, 2026, Bloomin' Brands agreed to buy all of the franchisee's assets for $26.3 million. Bloomin' is the "stalking horse" bidder, so another buyer can still make a higher offer during the court process. In its November 6 earnings release, Bloomin' said it isn't yet known whether its offer will be accepted.
Bloomin' called it "an isolated situation involving the franchisee" and said it is trying to support "operational continuity" while the case moves forward. No other closures among the remaining restaurants have been announced.
